Rebels in Syria have seized most of Aleppo in a major setback for President Assad’s forces, following a surprise offensive. According to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the violence in Aleppo has forced thousands to flee, many seeking refuge in unsafe open areas. Curfews were imposed in Aleppo City on Friday and Saturday, and all public facilities, including universities and schools, have been suspended. Hospitals are said to be overwhelmed with injured individuals, while banks and ATMs running out of cash. According to IDF, on November 30, Israel carried out airstrikes on facilities in Syria that were used by the Hezbollah movement. Israel PM Netanyahu on Dec 1 said that Israel is closely monitoring what happens in Syria, and will defend its interests.
