Chidambaram, the revered temple town of Tamil Nadu nestled along the Vellar River, is a spiritual epicentre known for the majestic Natarajar Temple and its stunning Dravidian architecture. A major pilgrimage site for Shaivites, it draws devotees and visitors from across India. Now, under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), the town’s vital rail link Chidambaram Railway Station went under a comprehensive facelift to better serve its growing passenger base. Under the ABSS, upgradation of work from the construction of a grand entrance arch to improvements in the circulating area, concourse, and booking office, every corner of the station has been reimagined with passenger convenience in mind. Platform shelters are strengthened, additional benches installed, and dedicated parking lots developed to ease commuter flow. Enhanced lighting and modern signage boards are being set up to improve visibility and navigation. Most notably, an Integrated Passenger Information System is introduced to provide real-time updates on train schedules, platform changes, and other travel alerts, ensuring a seamless and informed travel experience for every passenger.
