BJP wins Chandigarh Mayoral Polls, Opposition alleges corruption

Chandigarh, January 30 (ANI): The BJP won the Chandigarh Mayor elections on January 30 and Manoj Sonkar became the new Mayor of the UT. Many leaders were present in the Municipal Corporation office including BJP MP Kirron Kher during the results. Heavy security was deployed outside the Municipal Corporation office to prevent any untoward activity. After the BJP won the elections, the Opposition alleged that the elections were won through fraudulent means. AAP Chandigarh Mayor candidate Kuldeep Kumar was in tears after the result was declared. He said, “Democracy has been murdered.”
