Badlapur assault case: Accused dies in shooting after snatching cop’s gun

Mumbai (Maharashtra), September 23 (ANI): The man accused in sexual assault case of two minor girls in Badlapur died on Monday evening in retaliatory firing. The incident occurred after Akshay Shinde snatched a gun from a police officer and opened fire at him. The accused was soon rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The alleged sexual assault of two fourth-grade girls at a school in Maharashtra’s Badlapur had sparked outrage. Following this, angry protesters took to the streets, leading to train halts and internet ban in the city. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde informed that the Police shot the accused in self-defence. Meanwhile, Congress’ Prithviraj Chavan questioned Mumbai Police’s investigation alleging them of frequent changes in narratives
