“Attack on judiciary will not be tolerated…” Over 600 Lawyers write to CJI expressing concerns

New Delhi, March 28 (ANI): A group of prominent lawyers including Harish Salve and Bar Council of India Chairperson Manan Kumar Mishra have written a letter to CJI expressing concern over attempts to undermine the judiciary’s integrity. In a letter to CJI, 600 lawyers have expressed concern about the actions of a “vested interest group” which they alleged “is trying to pressure the judiciary, influence the judicial process and defame courts on the basis of frivolous logic and stale political agendas” While speaking to ANI, Manan Kumar Mishra said, “Attack on judiciary will not be tolerated and our Judiciary stands out very strong.” BJP leader and Supreme Court’s senior advocate Gaurav Bhatia welcomed the letter to CJI expressing concern over attempts to undermine the Judiciary’s integrity. While speaking to ANI, Gaurav Bhatia said, “There is a lobby which is trying to weaken the judiciary by putting pressure on them.”
