New Delhi, August 15 (ANI): Bollywood’s ‘Khiladi Kumar’, Akshay, has officially renounced his ‘debated’ Canadian citizenship. Taking to ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter), Akshay Kumar announced Indian citizen on August 15. “Dil aur citizenship, dono Hindustani”, Akshay Kumar captioned the image he shared on ‘X’ on August 15. In the past, Akshay Kumar faced criticism over his Canadian citizenship. Trolls on social media on numerous occasions called him ‘Canadian Kumar’. Kumar had addressed the matter on the popular show ‘Koffee with Karan 7’ back in 2022. "At the most, they (trolls) write about Canada. Which I don't care. Yea. Canada Kumar. Okay call me that," he had said (‘Koffee with Karan 7’). In 2019, he said that he finds it ‘disappointing that his citizenship issue is constantly dragged into needless controversy’. ‘Singh is Kinng’ actor had clarified that he never ‘hid his Canadian passport and paid all his taxes in India’.
