Jammu, August 27, 2025 (ANI): 30 people lives lost after heavy rains triggered landslide near Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra: Officials told ANI. Chenab river overflowed following heavy rainfall in J&K triggered landslides in the region on August 27. Indian Army launched extensive Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operations in flood-affected areas. Army continue to deploy multiple rescue columns and helicopters to evacuate stranded civilians, students, and security personnel. Train movement also suspended b/w Jammu Tawi & Katra, and b/w Jammu Tawi & Bari Brahman. 18 trains cancelled due to suspension of traffic on the down line b/w Pathankot Cantt & Kandrori. Earlier on Sunday, bridge over Sahar Khad river near Jammu-Pathankot Highway in Kathua district was damaged. Jammu region experienced intense monsoon showers for past few days, causing rivers to swell. Persisting heavy rainfall in region disrupted normal life in low-lying and hilly areas. On August 17, seven people lost their lives, 11 were injured in a cloudburst in Kathua district.
