Bastar (Chhattisgarh) | On the surrender of 21 Maoist cadres in Kanker district, IG Bastar P Sundarraj says, "On October 26th, in the Kanker area of the Bastar division, 21 Maoist cadres from the Keshkal division, including Divisional Committee Secretary Mukesh and members Raju and Kailash, surrendered to join mainstream society. This group comprised 8 men and 13 women Maoist cadres, along with 15 weapons (5 AK-47s, 4 SLRs, 2 INSAS rifles, and 6 303 weapons). They were accepted by society, the administration, and the police, with ongoing rehabilitation efforts. Notably, on October 17th, 210 Maoists from the Dantewada Special Zone Area, including Central Committee member Rupesh alias Satish, surrendered with 139 weapons. In the past week, a total of 231 Maoist cadres have surrendered, bringing nearly 170 weapons... The appeal remains for remaining Maoists to surrender and join mainstream society to avoid severe consequences..."
