New Delhi, Mar 30 (ANI): A group of scientists have discovered a new ‘organ’ and it might be the largest one in the human body. Interstitium, which was thought to be widespread between the tissues all over the body, could be the 80th organ in the body if a study by NYU School of Medicine pathologist is to be believed. Interstitium was believed to be the connective tissue underneath the skin earlier. The latest findings suggest that the new organ is actually a network of compartments filled with liquid. These interstitial spaces may serve as a ‘shock absorbers’ which is capable of shrinking and expanding, serving as an organ. The latest organ is also said to be responsible for spreading cancer to different parts of the body.
