New insights into ways to use cell metabolism to treat cancer

New Delhi, Aug 30 (ANI): A new research has found out that cell metabolism plays an important role in the ability of cells to start a survival program called autophagy. Autophagy is harmful for cells as it deals with destruction of cells while deviating cancer treatment, resulting in regrowth of new tumours. The findings provide new insights into ways to use cell metabolism to "pull the plug" on tumor cells that survive treatment, possibly leading to better treatments and outcomes for patients. The full findings are present in the journal- Cell Reports.
