Migraines may include a stage called aura, which is marked by visual disturbances (flashes, splotches, zigzags, or shimmering colored lights surrounding a blind spot). What Are Migraines? Causes of migraines include stress at work or home, highly caffeinated beverages may trigger migraines, bright lights and loud sounds, changes in wake-sleep pattern and hormonal changes in women. How to get relief? Put an ice pack on your forehead, scalp, or neck, avoid bright lights and loud noises, take adequate sleep, too little or too much can trigger headaches and eat wisely, don't skip meals.
