New Delhi, Apr 04 (ANI): An international study involving researchers from QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute has found women who breastfeed their babies may lower their risk of developing cancer by almost 25%. The research also shows the longer a woman breastfeeds, the greater the reduction in risk. Even those who breastfed their children for three months or less had about an 18% lower risk of developing cancer. Mothers who breastfed their children for more than 12 months each had a 34% lower risk. Only about 45 per cent women diagnosed with ovarian cancer survive at least five years after their diagnosis.
