Kalyan Jewellers withdraws ad starring Amitabh Bachchan & Shweta Nanda, apologises to bankers

New Delhi, Jul 23(ANI): Kalyan Jewellers which is one of the leading jewellery chains of the country recently came up with an advertisement which marked the debut of Shweta Nanda along with father Amitabh Bachchan. The 90-second long commercial has been brought down after bank union threatened to sue Kalyan Jewellers accusing it of "casting aspersion and hurting the sentiments of millions of personnel" through the ad. The jewellery group has issued an apology to the bankers for the same. They have released a statement apologizing and withdrawing the advertisement. “We sincerely regret the inadvertent hurt caused and withdraw the advertisement from all media with immediate effect”. The statement read. The advertisement showed Amitabh Bachchan as a pensioner who is accompanied by his daughter to the bank, where they encounter unprofessional employees, and further face hurdles for returning the extra money credited to his account.
