Kerala Health Minister Veena George on Friday directed the Director of the Health Department to investigate the sexual assault complaint of a woman doctor against a senior doctor at Ernakulam General Hospital in 2019.
Officials said that the victim was informed that her parcel had been seized from FedEx, where 140 gm of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) was found apart from her passport, banking document, and shoes and that the parcel was booked on April 21 from Mumbai to Taiwan.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday expressed grief over the death of a woman doctor, who was allegedly stabbed to death by a patient, assuring that necessary security will be provided in hospitals.
"The police do not have enough strength to man all hospitals but there is a force called SISF - State Industrial Security Force. The same could be hired. SISF officers are young, trained and armed," ADGP MR Ajith Kumar told the Division Bench
The Division Bench of Justice Devan Ramachandran and Justice Kauser Edappagath while taking up the matter suo moto criticised the state government and the police strongly. The court said, "If you can't protect the doctors, shut down the hospitals."
A lady doctor died in a Private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday after she was allegedly stabbed multiple times using scissors by a man while she was on duty at Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital in Kottayam district, said the Police.
Police said the accused allegedly entered into a physical altercation with a woman doctor and verbally abused her, adding that he also threatened to kill her.
