Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team principal Toto Wolff said that they are in "no hurry" to find Lewis Hamilton's replacement after the end of the 2024 season of Formula One.
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff that he "couldn't wish" for a more suitable "new team leader" than George Russell when the seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton leaves for Ferrari in 2025.
On Thursday, Ferrari stunned the sporting world by announcing that the seven-time world champion will join the Italian team for the 2025 Formula One season on a multi-year contract.
"Scuderia Ferrari is pleased to announce that Lewis Hamilton will be joining the team in 2025, on a multi-year contract," the Italian team said in a statement.
Ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix on November 19 at LA Street Circuit, Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team Principal Toto Wolff said that the previous race in Brazil was their most difficult weekend of the season.
Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team have parted ways with their Chief Technical Officer Mike Elliott after 11 years together on Wednesday. Elliott moved into the role six months ago, swapping positions with now-Technical Director James Allison.
The Mercedes Team Principal supported the pair to move on from the incident as they prepare to return to the track in the United States Grand Prix this weekend.
