A total of 864 posts of Indian Police Service (IPS) officers are currently vacant across the country, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) informed the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
Of the 11 cases, two were registered in 2019, four each in 2020 and 2021, and one this year, said Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai on behalf of the MHA in a written reply to the queries of Bahujan Samaj Party leader Kunwar Danish Ali.
"1000 Khelo India centres will be opened by 15th August 2023 across the country. Out of the 1,000 centres, 733 centres have been already sanctioned," said Thakur in Lok Sabha.
The bill introduced by Ravi Kishan said policies framed by various governments have not been able to control population and there is no law on population control.
"We aren't like the Congress party that overturns everything and captures institutions. BJP respects all institutions of the country," said Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju.

As per the Annual Report of the Department of Expenditure, the number of vacant posts under various ministries and departments of the Central government, as on March 1, 2021, in Group A, B and C are 2,3584; 1,18,807 and 8,36,936, respectively.
In a few cases, the Minister said, "Minor variations may occur and the number of candidates nominated may be slightly lower than the number of vacancies reported due to non-availability of candidates fulfilling specific eligibility criteria, laid down in the notice of the examination."
