The Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on Saturday announced the formation of an 'Oversight committee' to probe into the levelled allegations against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and its chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and other coaches.

Members of the committee include Olympic medalist Mary Kom, former archer Dola Banerjee, Alaknanda Ashok, London Olympic medalist Yogeshwar Dutt, Indian Weightlifting Federation President Sahdev Yadav and two advocates, the IOA announced on Friday.
He also informed the media that the WFI had issued the explanation to the Sports Ministry within the stipulated 72 hours on the allegations made by wrestlers, including Olympic and Commonwealth Games (CWG) medalists, in Delhi.

Before speaking to the media, the protesting wrestlers on Friday wrote a letter to PT Usha, President of the Indian Olympic Association on "sexual harassment" complaints against Wrestling Federation India chairman Brij Bhushan Saran Singh.
The letter signed by Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshee Malikkh, Ravi Dahiya, and Deepak Punia's demands the resignation of the WFI chief and the formation of an inquiry committee on the allegations of sexual harassment.
Earlier in the day, Singh, who is also a BJP Lok Sabha MP from Kaiserganj in Uttar Pradesh in a post on his Facebook said that he will hold a press conference at the Wrestling Training Centre in Nawabganj in Gonda district of the state.
The development comes hours after some wrestlers had a late-night meeting with Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on Thursday. Thakur who arrived at his Delhi residence late last evening from Chandigarh met with the wrestlers and the meeting stretched into the early hours of today. Accor
