Advocate Ravinder Malik, who is representing Haryana Wrestling Association on Friday confirmed that the Punjab and Haryana High Court has stayed the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) elections till August 28 which were initially slated for Saturday.
Earlier, outgoing WFI president and BJP MP Brij Bhushan said that today is the last day for filing nominations for the federation’s elections and no member of his family will contest the poll.
The Wrestling Federation of India elections are now set to be held on 12 August after being postponed by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) according to sources.
"I do not want to comment on this as it is now under the court's consideration. The matter is in the court, and the court will do its work," Singh told ANI.
