The National Investigation Agency has taken over the probe into the violent unrest that shook Beldanga in West Bengal's Murshidabad district after the death of a migrant worker.
Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Tuesday alleged violence against migrant workers hailing from West Bengal, calling for sensitisation towards the "plight of migrants."
The incident reportedly took place in Masdhura near Sukhia Pokhari, where Bista was targeted while travelling in his convoy. The BJP leader described the incident as a "cowardly attack" and linked it to previous assaults on BJP leaders in the state.
The Supreme Court has recently slammed Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers and cancelled the bail of five person who were accused of targeted families for supporting BJP during the 2021 in West Bengal, saying such incidents were "grave attacks on the roots of democracy".

According to officials, the accused has been identified as Injamul Haq, a local of the area. He is alleged to have tampered with and destroyed CCTV footage related to the incident and is reportedly directly involved in the case.
Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Kumar Verma inspected the violence-hit area in Bhangar on Thursday. He said that the situation was under control as 19 people have been arrested based on video footage in the wake of the violence.
