New Delhi [India], April 21 (ANI): Congress leader Supriya Shrinate criticised BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and said that there cannot be anything "filthier" than his statement about Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna.
She said that such a person must be expelled from the party, but the entire BJP is standing in his defence.
"Nishikant Dubey said that the CJI of this country is responsible for the civil war. What can be filthier than this... Such a person should be expelled from the party, but your entire party is standing in defence of that man, your Chief Minister is tweeting in his defence...", Supriya Shrinate told ANI.
Senior Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit contested the BJP MP's knowledge about the Constitution.
Dikshit told ANI, "Nishikant Dubey is known to speak anything, I suspected that he would not have knowledge of the Constitution, but now this has been confirmed...If Nishikant Dubey does not understand this system, then I don't know on which Constitution he took oath to become an MP. It is given in our Constitution that if a person feels that any government decision is not fair or logical, then they can go to court. We have gone under the same provision...People of his own party have also gone to court many times..."
On April 19, Nishikant Dubey had alleged that Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna responsible for the violence in West Bengal during the Waqf Act protests.
"Chief Justice of India, Sanjiv Khanna, is responsible for all the civil wars happening in this country," Nishikant Dubey told ANI.
The BJP leader further alleged that the Supreme Court want to take this country towards "anarchy."
"How can you give direction to the appointing authority? The President appoints the Chief Justice of India. The Parliament makes the law of this country. You will dictate that, Parliament?... How did you make a new law? In which law is it written that the President has to take a decision within three months? This means that you want to take this country towards anarchy. When the Parliament sits, there will be a detailed discussion on this," Dubey said.
His comment came amid the ongoing hearing in the Supreme Court over several petitions challenging the constitutionality of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025. (ANI)
