Those who indulge in corruption should be punished, said BJP MP Locket Chatterjee on Sunday amid CBI raids at the residence of Kolkata Mayor and West Bengal Minister Firhad Hakim.
CBI conducted searches at the residence of senior West Bengal minister Firhad Hakim in Kolkata Sunday morning in connection with its investigation into the alleged irregularities in recruitments made by the civic bodies in the state.
West Bengal Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Shashi Panja on Thursday slammed Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and reiterated that BJP should not talk about corruption.
"A train from here should go to every state where the BJP rules in the country to spread the message of peace. For example, Sikhs from here can teach how Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians live together in Bengal," the Minister said.
Earlier, Trinamool Congress alleged that three of its party workers have been murdered in multiple incidents of violence in West Bengal after polling for the single-phase panchayat elections began in the state on Saturday morning.
West Bengal minister and ruling Trinamool Congress leader Javed Ahmed Khan hit out at the BJP over the latter's allegations of violence around the filing of nominations for the upcoming panchayat elections in the state.
West Bengal Minister Moloy Ghatak paid a visit to slain Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Dhananjay Choubey's residence in Adra on Sunday. This came after the local TMC leader was shot dead on Thursday.
"This is a crime that should not be committed. There is no scope for BJP to speak about it. It's very unfortunate that we see politics in this. Crime against children and women should be condemned," said Shashi Panja.
The BJP Mandal President named Sagar Biswas was slapped up by a local TMC leader in front of state Food Minister Rathin Ghosh on Saturday while the Minister was speaking with the villagers and hearing their grievances.
North Bengal development minister Udayan Guha has alleged that the normal trains have been painted as Vande Bharat Train and the fare is unnecessarily charged high.
