Kerala High Court has directed Ernakulam District Collector to submit a comprehensive affidavit on Friday over the fire incident that happened at Brahmapuram Waste Plant.
Kerala opposition leader V D Satheeshan demanded to declare a health emergency by the government on the backdrops of the Brahmapuram fire in the state on Wednesday. The smoke surrounding the region and the district nearby can cause hazardous health issues.
Officials said that a medical camp was also organised at Brahmapuram to check up on the health of fire and rescue officials and other persons who are at the spot.
Kerala High Court on Tuesday directed Ernakulam Collector and Pollution Control Board Chairman to physically appear before the Court on March 8 on the fire incident happened at Brahmapuram Waste Plant.
Just ahead of landing, the pilot noticed plastic around the landing zone and the chopper kept hovering around the area as authorities cleaned the zone.
Kerala Law and Industries Minister P Rajeev and Health Minister Veena George on Sunday jointly briefed about the fire that broke out at the Brahmapuram waste plant on Thursday.
"The ongoing efforts and options available for extinguishing the fire were discussed. The meeting decided to explore a flooding approach to extinguish the fire at the earliest," an official statement said.
The residents of Brahmapuram and nearby areas should avoid going out on Sunday as much as possible as the smoke cannot be controlled. Stay at home as much as possible," she said.
