The Election Commission of India (ECI) has accepted the nomination of Pro-Khalistani separatist and Waris Punjab De Chief Amritpal Singh to contest from Punjab's Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha constituency as Independent.
Amritpal knows the issues of Punjab very well and these elections will be fought on those issues, said his mother Balwinder Kaur, adding his son will contest the Lok Sabha polls from the Khadoor Sahib.
Pro-Khalistani separatist and Waris Punjab De Chief Amritpal Singh's father Tarsem Singh on Thursday dismissed the reports of him fighting the Lok Sabha elections saying nothing is confirmed as of now.
"Around 5-7 people who were going to participate in the 'Chetna' march in support of Amritpal lodged in Dibrugarh jail have been detained. Wherever we anticipate a law and order situation and we have the provision to detain, preventive action is carried out," said the official.
