Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has thanked US President Joe Biden for providing Kyiv with a defense package of USD 2.5 billion in new weaponry, and munitions for Ukraine as the country prepares for a new stage in the ongoing conflict with Russia.
Speaking during a visit to a factory in St Petersburg that makes air defence systems, Putin said he had "no doubt" Russia would emerge victorious in the conflict - despite suffering a string of military setbacks in its now nearly year-long offensive.
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a phone call on Saturday that London would send 12 Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine.
"It is now 2023; the war in Ukraine is not over yet, but the tide is turning," Zelenskyy said. "And it is already clear who will win," said the Ukrainian President.
Due to the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia which has resulted in widespread devastation of life and property, Ukraine has suffered its sharpest economic decline in over 30 years in 2022, Al Jazeera reported, citing the official data.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday held talks with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Taking to his official Twitter handle, Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Leyen for European Union's support.
Monday's early morning attack comes after a New Year assault by Russia that saw Kyiv and other cities under fire from missiles and Iranian-made drones.
