Ukraine has welcomed the latest arms package from the United States to bolster its counteroffensive against Russia as the war approaches the two-year mark, Al Jazeera reported.
A high-ranking official within the Ukrainian Defence Ministry has been apprehended on charges of embezzling USD 40 million (1.5 billion Ukrainian hryvnia) related to a contract for artillery shells, CNN reported the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU).

US President Joe Biden held a meeting with Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy and discussed Ukraine's self-defence against Russian offensive, including plans for the coming year.
Biden said, "Congress needs to pass supplemental funding to Ukraine before they break for holiday recess, before they give [Vladimir] Putin the greatest Christmas gift they can possibly give him."
