Shortly after filing his nominations, Karnataka Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Wednesday said that his party is Secular and is not seeking votes on the basis of caste.
Karnataka Government on Thursday assured the Supreme Court that no admissions or appointments will be taken place on the basis of a government order, scrapping four per cent (Other Backward Classes) OBC reservation for Muslims, till April 18.
"Congress says they will take back the reservation which we have announced. There is no question of them (congress) coming to power. They can't take back the reservation as they will never come to power," said CM Bommai.
Former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy on Tuesday said that the BJP-ruled state of Karnataka's "intention" behind scrapping 4 per cent OBC reservation for Muslims was to spark communal strife between Vokkaligas and Lingayats and the Muslim community.
While addressing the media, DK Shivakumar said, "I am confident that Congress will come to power after the next 45 days. We will scrap all these reservations as there is no base in this there was no report," he said.
