In 2023, on this very day, Chandrayaan 3 accomplished the safe and soft landing of Vikram Lander on the lunar surface. India became the fourth country to land on the moon and the first to land near the southern polar region of the moon.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the Indian Space and Research Organisation (ISRO) for achieving another technological milestone in space.
"I came here to pay my tribute to Dr MS Swaminathan and his family. I had an opportunity to meet him earlier when he was very active, travelling especially when he used to come to Trivandrum," ISRO chief S Somanath said.
ISRO has made efforts to establish communication with the Vikram lander and Pragyan rover to ascertain their wake-up condition, but as of now, no signals have been received from them. However, ISRO said it would continue efforts to establish contact.
Speaking to ANI on the second phase of the Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission, the Ex-ISRO chief said, "The success of the wake-up call is something we will have to wait and see. Now the lunar day starts soon, so they will try to wake up soon. All the systems are functioning, it will be alright."
As Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) preps to revive Chandrayaan-3’s Vikram lander and rover from ‘sleep mode’ after almost two weeks, former ISRO chairman Madhavan Nair on Friday said there is a fairly good chance that the system will be operational again.
Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh on Thursday informed that the second phase of the Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission is about to begin in the next few hours adding that Pragyan Rover and Vikram lander are awaiting will wake up after facing sunrays.
The minister also praised ISRO’s innovative choices in the Chandrayaan-3 project, like choosing a route that allows a cost-effective and sustainable method of accomplishing the project.
The discussion will be held soon after the laying of papers and tabling of reports of the standing committee on labour, textiles and skill development as well as the reports of the committee on public accounts.
