The announcement was made by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in the national capital following the INDIA bloc meeting. B Sudershan Reddy will file his nomination for the Vice Presidential polls on August 21.
Following NDA's Parliamentary Party meeting on Tuesday, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to all the MPs, including the Opposition, to support CP Radhakrishnan in the Vice Presidential elections.
Nara Lokesh congratulated Radhakrishnan on behalf of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and stated that the experience in serving as the governor of Maharashtra and other states will be beneficial in providing effective services to the nation in the coming days.
"Nomination of CP Radhakrishnan as NDA's Vice Presidential candidate will be filed on August 20, at 11 am. All NDA floor leaders and members of Parliament will issue signatures," Rijijusaid.
This comes as the Bharatiya Janata Party-led (BJP) National Democratic Alliance (NDA) nomination of current Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan as the Vice Presidential candidate.
Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas) extended its full support to the C P Radhakrishnan, after he was named the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate for the Vice Presidential elections scheduled to be held on September 9.
"My heartfelt thanks to our beloved People's leader our most respected Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi for nominating me as the NDA Vice Presidential candidate and giving me the opportunity to serve the Nation," Radhakrishnan posted on X.
Chandrapuram Ponnusamy Radhakrishnan, the Maharashtra Governor since July 31, 2024, had earlier also served as the Governor of Jharkhand, Telangana and Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
