Vice President CP Radhakrishnan on Friday paid a floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat in New Delhi, after he took the oath of office at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The oath-taking ceremony of Vice President-elect Chandrapuram Ponnusamy Radhakrishnan is scheduled for the morning of September 12, Friday, at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi. President Droupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office.
Recalling the time when CP Radhakrishnan was born, his mother Janaki Ammal said that she had named his son after the former President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

After being elected as Vice President, CP Radhakrishnan on Tuesday expressed his commitment to the nation's development and emphasised the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between the ruling party and the opposition in a democracy.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived at Parliament House right as voting started at 10 AM, was the first person to cast his vote. The counting of votes is set to happen at 6 PM in the same room the voting took place. The contest is between NDA nominee and Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakr
"Numbers are fine but this voting is done on the basis of one's conscience. The entire country knows that the BJP is a use-and-throw party. The same thing happened with the Vice President, who is missing...The numbers will be in our favour," the SP chief told ANI.
"As a democratic setup, the INDIA bloc will fight the election together. We have requested a conscious vote. The INDIA bloc and all opposition parties will vote against the NDA candidate (CP Radhakrishnan)," Shivakumar told reporters here.
