With vehicle entry sharply curtailed on Maha Deepam day, authorities have planned extensive traffic diversions. The general public will be directed to designated parking areas and temporary bus terminals on the outskirts.
In a statement, the Commission said that the decision is part of broader efforts to curb vehicular emissions, one of the major contributors to the city's severe air pollution levels during the winter season.
Speaking to ANI, DC Mandar said, "It came to my knowledge yesterday that entry of vehicles in the Commissionerate area has been banned until 4th Feb. But there is nothing like that. I issued a statement refuting this yesterday. Our traffic schemes were only for the 'mukhya snan' days."
DM Prayagraj, Ravindra Kumar Mandar, clarified on Friday that there will be no restrictions on vehicle entry in Prayagraj on January 31, February 1, and February 4.
