Two-time Asian Tour winner Rashid struck a four-under 68 to jump six spots from his overnight tied seventh position, and three-time PGTI winner Kshitij Naveed Kaul shot a three-under 69 to gain one spot from his overnight tied second.
Ahmedabad Open is set to feature some of the top Indian professionals such as Rashid Khan, Khalin Joshi, Udayan Mane, Aman Raj, Veer Ahlawat, Viraj Madappa, Om Prakash Chouhan, Honey Baisoya, Sachin Baisoya, Gaurav Pratap Singh and Karan Pratap Singh, to name a few.
Ugo Coussaud birdied two of the last three holes to get to 18-under for the week and secure his maiden triumph. Aman Raj was the best Indian and the next best were Veer Ahlawat (72-69-65-69) and left-hander Kartik Sharma (66-67-70-72)) who were both tied 11th.
Shubhankar Sharma produced his best round of the week with a 4-under 68 and finished tied for 13th place alongside Veer Ahlawat (73) to total 4-under 284 at the Indian Open 2023. The duo finished as the best Indians at the event played here at the DLF Golf and Country Club.
Overall though, it was a strong display by Indian golfers with three of them in the Top-10. Veer Ahlawat was tied fourth while Angad Cheema (4-under 212) was tied seventh and Honey Baisoya (3-under 213) was tied 10th.
SSP Chawrasia, a four-time winner on the DP World Tour, will be leading the Indian charge along with Manu Gandas, who earned a card on the DP World Tour this season as a result of finishing number one in the PGTI Rankings last year.
Gurgaon's Veer Ahlawat with the day's best round of seven-under 59 is placed second in the clubhouse with an overall score of 10-under 122 while Bengaluru's M Dharma is placed third in the clubhouse with an overall score of nine-under 123
Karandeep Kochhar scored eight birdies in exchange for a bogey while Bengaluru's Chikkarangappa, the winner of the inaugural edition in 2018, produced a bogey-free round.
