Union Minister Jitendra Singh has announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat train service on April 19 from Katra.
India now boasts the second-largest road network in the world, the third-largest metro rail network, and the fourth-largest rail network. He also highlighted that 136 Vande Bharat trains are running in the country, and 97 percent of the broad-gauge network has been electrified.
The Vande Bharat train sourcing from CSMT (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus) CSMT to the destination of Shirdi has an all-women crew today, including the loco pilot, assistant loco pilot, train manager, TCs and train Hostesses.
As many as 136 Vande Bharat train services having chair cars are operational on Indian Railways network as of January 2025, minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed Rajya Sabha in a written reply. The minister also said that overall occupancy in these trains are almost 100 per cent.
