Two successive attacks on Vande Bharat Express train in West Bengal proved that the administration was "good for nothing," Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was scheduled to embark on a visit to West Bengal to launch the developmental projects, may join the events through video conferencing, sources said on Friday.
The nation's seventh Vande Bharat train took around 8.30 hours to complete around 560km between NJP-Howrah during the first trial run today, an official statement added.
"To stop cattle-hit incidents in trains, approval has been given to a new design for the boundary wall. This new boundary wall will be installed in the next 5-6 months," said Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The Chennai-Mysuru Vande Bharat Express is the fifth Vande Bharat train in the country and the first in South India, and the service for the public will start on Saturday and will run six days a week.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Karnataka on November 11 and participate in several programs and events across the state. This will include the launching of Vande Bharat train, a new terminal at the airport, and the unveiling of the statue of progress.
Shah emphasised the government's developmental initiatives taken up earlier. "We have set up a medical park in Nalagarh which will give jobs to 10,000 people. We've also built the Atal tunnel that'll promote tourism," he said.
