A part of Badrinath National Highway (NH-7) has been washed away due to the rise in the water level of the Lambagad drain owing to the heavy showers since late Friday night in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, officials said on Saturday.
Traffic was affected after a 70-metre stretch of the National Highway was damaged due to rainfall near Gauchar town in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand on Monday, officials said.
Uttarakhand Police have arrested three persons, including Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan suspended engineer, for alleged negligence which led to the electrocution mishap at the sewage treatment plant under Namami Gange project on the banks of Alakananda River at Gopeshwar on Wednesday which caused
"Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given instructions to provide Rs 5 lakh to the dependents of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh to the injured without any delay," an official statement said.
Condoling the incident of Uttarakhand's Chamoli, where 15 people were electrocuted, state Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday said that orders have been given to conduct a Magisterial inquiry.
As many as 15 people were electrocuted to death after they came in contact with a railing of an electrified bridge above Alaknanda river in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, officials said on Wednesday.
According to the officials, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is working to open the highway. They said that due to the blockage of the highway, many passengers are stranded.
"Since the opening of the doors of Kedarnath Dham, ten lakh pilgrims have visited till now. This time an increase of 18 to 20 per cent has been recorded in the number of passengers as compared to the previous yatra. Every day 15 to 16 thousand pilgrims are visiting Kedarnath," DM Mayur Dixit
