Telangana Minister for Irrigation and Civil Supplies Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy termed the passage of the SC (Rationalisation of Reservations) Bill 2025 in the Telangana Legislative Assembly on Tuesday as a landmark decision.
The rescue teams traced the body of a worker from the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel in Nagarkurnool which collapsed on February 22 entrapping eight workers.
Telangana Minister for Irrigation and Civil Supplies Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday announced that robotic technology had been deployed to accelerate the ongoing rescue operations at the SLBC tunnel near Domalapenta in the Nagarkurnool district, where eight workers remain trapped.
After the meeting, Minister Uttam Reddy said they held a detailed discussion with the Union Minister on many issues, including the pending development projects in the state and the issue of Krishna River water.
Telangana Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, along with Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Jupalli Krishna Rao, arrived at the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel and held a review meeting with rescue officials regarding the ongoing rescue operation.
Relatives of Gurpreet Singh, one of the eight workers stuck inside, have urged the government to expedite efforts, emphasising that he is the sole breadwinner of his family.
Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy assured that the rescue and relief operations would be completed within two to three days, and the tunnel works would resume in two to three months.
