Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Wednesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce a Special Relief Package for states witnessing devastating destruction amid incessant rainfall.
Amid heavy rainfall in several Indian states, IMD has issued red alert warnings for several districts across J-K, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, northern Punjab, northern Haryana, eastern Rajasthan, southwest Uttar Pradesh, northwest & eastern Madhya Pradesh and Odisha.

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved a hike in dearness allowance for public body employees, raising it from 455% to 466% for the fifth pay scale and 246% to 252% for the sixth pay scale, effective January 1, 2025.
The Uttarakhand government on Tuesday signed an agreement with National Highway Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) for the development of ropeways to Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib under the Centre's Parvatmala project.

According to the IMD, the districts of Pilibhit, Lakhimpur, and Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh were placed under a red alert. In Haryana, the warning covered Fatehabad, Jind, Hisar, Gurugram, Rewari, and Mewat.
The state government further said, "The Gaula River is flowing 20cm above the danger level. Therefore, please be careful in the Gaula River downstream of the Gaula Barrage".
