"If temple-by-user and church-by-user are not a thing, why should Waqf-by-user exist? Instead, the concept Waqf-by-user should be stayed, and efforts should be made to bring back properties acquired on the basis of this concept," Jain told ANI.
Speaking to ANI, Pal, who was also the Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee, pointed out that the top court itself had said that the Waqf Board is not a religious body but a legal one.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday indicated that it may pass interim order to stay certain key provisions of the recently passed Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, and also expressed concern over violence in West Bengal's Murshidabad district.
