Meanwhile, Trump administration officials visited Venezuela this week, where US Interior Secretary Doug Burgum met with acting Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez to discuss oil and mineral opportunities. Burgum leads Trump's National Energy Dominance Council.
Addressing reporters aboard Air Force One, he said, "China is welcome to come in and make a great deal on oil. We've already made a deal. India is coming in, and they're going to be buying Venezuelan oil as opposed to buying it from Iran. So, we've already made the concept of the deal."
Trump asserted that his administration is working closely with Caracas and claimed that large volumes of Venezuelan oil are already entering the United States as part of the engagement.
"A lot of money is going to be made. Oil prices will come down, although they are getting down pretty good now without it, and it was a great meeting we had today with the biggest companies anywhere in the world," Fox News quoted Trump as saying.
