West met Deputy National Security Advisor Vikram Misri and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Joint Secretary (PAI) JP Singh. During the meeting, the US Special envoy deeply appreciated India's generous humanitarian support to Afghans.
In a statement, State Department spokesperson Ned Price said West's trip will include visits to Japan and the United Arab Emirates. "Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West will travel to Japan, India, and the United Arab Emirates December 1-8," Price said.
