Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser condemned what she described as a "targeted shooting" that left two members of the West Virginia National Guard critically wounded on Wednesday.
US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth announced that President Donald Trump has directed the deployment of 500 additional National Guard troops to Washington, DC, following the shooting of two Guardsmen near the White House.
"Video surveillance has confirmed there was only one shooter and they are currently being detained," the Nashua Police Department said in a statement. "The scene is still an active investigation, but there is no further danger to the public," Fox News quoted.
The gunman killed an off-duty New York City police officer working security at the 44-story building, and three other people, as he made his way through the lobby and then to the office of the building's owners, before killing himself, officials said.
