US Secretary of the Treasury Janet L Yellen is set to host Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng ahead of the APEC Finance Ministers Meeting in San Francisco, the US Department of Treasury said on Monday.
China, for the first time has seen more outflows of foreign direct investment than inflows as tensions rise with the US over semiconductor technology and concerns about rise in anti-spying activity heighten risks.
Stating that the US is committed to an Indo-Pacific that is free and open, Secretary of Treasury Janet Yellen said that Washington is increasing its countries like India, Vietnam and Mexico reducing the dependence on China.
Ahead of the upcoming India-US 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue, US Assistant Secretary for Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu said that Washington would be interested to know about the discussions between New Delhi and Beijing regarding the border standoff.
It will seek to unlock the "benefits of AI to the 700 million people who speak 46 African languages" according to statement by the British High Commission here.
"The United States defence agreement with the Philippines is ironclad. Any attack on the Filipino aircraft, vessels or armed forces will invoke our mutual defence treaty with the Philippines," Biden said during a joint press conference.
The White House said Biden "emphasized that both the United States and China need to manage competition in the relationship responsibly and maintain open lines of communication," and he "underscored that the United States and China must work together to address global challenges."
As per the press statement the meeting was focused on the responsibly handling the US-china relations and discussing a range of bilateral, regional, and global issues, including addressing areas of difference as well as exploring areas of cooperation.
Citing the impact of US-China relations on world peace and development, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that Beijing is ready to work with Washington, to "properly manage differences", contribute to each other's progress and push for common prosperity, Chinese state media agency Xinhua
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday said India-Russia ties may not be spectacular but are very “exceptional and steady”, adding that in many ways Moscow's relationship with the West has “broken down”.
