The ongoing investigation into the Indian Youth Congress protest at the Bharat Mandapam during the India AI Impact Summit 2026 has been transferred to the Delhi Police Crime Branch, authorities said on Tuesday.
The case was transferred to the CBI by the Delhi High Court on July 27, 2024, on a petition moved by Faizan's mother, Kismatun. In August 2024, the CBI registered a case under sections related to the offences of rioting, unlawful assembly, murder, etc.
While acquitting Sajjan kumar the court observed, "Sum and substance is that the prosecution has not met its burden of proof against the accused beyond a reasonable doubt, which is essential for conviction in a criminal trial."
