Students from various regions of Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan have initiated protests at the Diamer campus of Karakoram International University, mirroring ongoing protests at the Hunza campus.
The students, teachers, and employees of the Balochistan University of Quetta organised protests over the non-payment of salaries and administrative irregularities, reported The Balochistan Post.
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the University of Balochistan organised a protest in Quetta, demanding their three months' overdue salaries and the 35 percent salary increase as promised in the previous year's education budget for teachers at research centers, and staff at the University
The poor students of Gilgit Baltistan are unable to pay the excessive increase in the semester fees. The unreasonable raise in the university fees has disgruntled the students and their parents as administration has allegedly increased the fees by 25 percent two times in a semester.
As per sources, the protesting students have warned the university administration that their protest will continue, until the demands are met, meanwhile, the administration's argument is that the doors are still open for talks.
