Goa CM Pramod Sawant said, "Uniform Civil Code is important for women empowerment and gender equality. Many parties are doing politics on UCC. It means they don't want the empowerment of women and gender quality. UCC is not based on caste and religion."
The Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) ally Nationalist Congress Party took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his remarks on the Uniform Civil Code a day earlier.
Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP leader Jairam Thakur welcomed Himachal Pradesh PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh's support to the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) saying that he listened to his conscience and expressed it.
"Diversity has always been India's strength. However, it's still early days as we don't know what the final UCC draft would be like. Without seeing the actual draft, it will be difficult going into the details of it," the Meghalaya CM added.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday said that after the legal review of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) draft which will soon be submitted by the committee, the government will move towards the implementation process.
"In view of UCC, this visit of the Chief Minister to Delhi is considered very important, because yesterday, retired Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, the chairman of the committee on UCC, said that the draft of the committee regarding UCC has been prepared," said the officials.
"Kerala CM is trying to divide the people on communal lines. He should desist from such moves, UCC is something that the Courts have been asking for and UCC is for the welfare of every citizen of the country. The Uniform Civil Code will ensure that equality of rights," Muraleedharan said.
"We have said that whenever Uniform Civil Code comes, we will support it. Congress party has always contributed towards taking unity and integrity forward," said Himachal Pradesh Minister Vikramaditya Singh.
Former Union Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Saturday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inform the country of the proposal for the Uniform Civil Code( UCC). He also opined that Uttarakhkand's Civil Code cannot be implemented across the country.
The imposter has been identified as Rashmi Ranjan Bhuyan, a native of Kendrapara district residing at Sundarpada in Bhubaneswar. He was arrested on the basis of a written complaint filed by the victim, Ranjan Jena, for trashing and assaulting in a police uniform.
"Pinarayi Vijayan's goal is the polarisation of Muslims. No Muslim parent will accept a triple talaq. Likewise, no Muslim parent will accept discrimination against girls in property rights," said the Kerala BJP state president.
