The United Nations' children's agency said on Friday that 14 million children in Sudan are in "dire need" of humanitarian assistance as the country's violent conflict exacerbates its hunger crisis, CNN reported.
"The numbers are staggering. Almost 14 million children — a number roughly equivalent to every single child in Colombia, France, Germany, or Thailand — are in dire need of humanitarian support,” UNICEF deputy executive director Ted Chaiban said in a briefing on Friday.
In a recent report revealed by UNICEF, over 15 million people are expected to experience food insecurity till October 2023, with 29.2 million people expected to require humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan, TOLOnews reported.
