As air pollution continues to become a pressing issue worldwide, the city of Agartala in Tripura has installed two real-time air quality monitoring systems as a significant step to monitor and address the levels of particulate matter and other pollutants in its air.
There was no loss of life in the fire incident. "At the time of the fire, three employees were present in the factory, who were evacuated safely," Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Rahul Kumar told ANI.
The official shared details about the incident and said that two chlorine cylinders were kept in the store, one of which was leaking. There is no report of any casualties. The situation is under control.
"Fire broke out at the Astha Hospital and fire tenders were rushed to the spot. A total of 4 fire tenders were at the spot and the fire is under control. The fire is doused too.," Singh said.
Speaking to ANI, Rajkot Commissioner of Police, Raju Bhargava said, "The fire is under control, and the rescue operations are ongoing. Around 20 bodies have been recovered and sent to the hospital for post-mortem examination. A probe will be taken up after the rescue and dousing operation
Visuals from the scene depicted chaos, with broken chairs scattered around. The disorder prompted police intervention, leading them to use a lathi charge to bring the situation under control.
The incident took place in Shakarpur S-block and a total of eight fire tenders took around six to seven hours to bring the fire under control, officials said.
