It said that the wires of the Umesh Pal murder case are also connected in one way or the other with the former BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case in Prayagraj 18 years ago.
After the accused in the Umesh Pal murder case were killed in encounters, Samajwadi Party MP Ram Gopal Yadav on Tuesday expressed apprehension that the police would kill one of the sons of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed in a fake encounter in a few days.
The Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday arrested two people including a prison official arrested for allegedly facilitating meets between jailed former MLA Mohammad Ashraf alias Khalid Azim, the younger brother of Bahubali mafia don Atiq Ahmed, and his aides.
"I would like to congratulate the police team for this success. Those criminals murdered Umesh Pal and later two police personnel also. In today's encounter, the second murderer was killed," Keshav Prasad Maurya said.
"You have seen how dreaded these criminals are, that they are even attacking the police. In response, police had to open fire, in which another criminal was killed," Brajesh Pathak told ANI.
