The Supreme Court on Monday declined to interfere with Centre's decision to cancel the UGC-NET 2024 exam due to alleged paper leaks, saying it would add to "uncertainty" and "utter chaos."
The uncertainty surrounding PhD admissions arose after the Centre cancelled the UGC NET exam, which had been crucial for entry into PhD programs. The UGC NET exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), determines eligibility for teaching positions and PhD admissions.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team, which went to Bihar to investigate the alleged paper leak of UGC's National Eligibility Test, was gheraoed by locals in Bihar's Nawada on Saturday.
