On Saturday, under the chairmanship of uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, a cabinet meeting was held in the State Secretariat to discuss the draft report on the Uniform Civil Code.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who received the draft Uniform Civil Code under the leadership of retired judge Ranjana Prakash Desai on Friday, informed that the draft report consists of 740 pages and has four volumes, which include suggestions from 2,33,000 people in the state.
The Assam government is closely monitoring the Uttrakhand UCC report and will take its decision on banning polygamy in the state, in the upcoming budget session.
The committee formed under the leadership of retired judge Ranjana Prakash Desai for the Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand submitted the draft to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday.
Uniform Civil Code Committee Chairperson Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, along with the committee members, handed over the UCC final report to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in a programme organised at Mukhya Sevak Sadan.
"In the coming time, the UCC bill will be very beneficial for the women of the Muslim community. I support and welcome the UCC bill. Every woman in the Muslim community should welcome and support the bill. This will also lead to the development of society in a correct manner," Bano told ANI.
The Uttarakhand government will present the Uniform Civil Code Bill in the state assembly in February during the special session, said CM Pushkar Singh Dhami.

The Uttarakhand Assembly session will be held from February 5 to 8, according to a notification by the Secretariat of the Assembly. In this session, the Pushkar Singh Dhami government will present the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill in the House.
CM Dhami said that after receiving the report on February 2, it will be brought to the Cabinet and after that, action will be taken in the state assembly to enact the Uniform Civil Code Act.
