Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday asked the Tamil Nadu government to implement the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020, in the state, stating that Tamil should be the medium of instruction up to standard five as per the policy's recommendation.
The apex court was hearing a plea filed by the Tamil Nadu government challenging the Madras High Court's order directing the State government to establish JNV schools in the State.
Congress MP Karti Chidambaram on Wednesday slammed the Union Government on the issue of the three-language policy. He stated that Tamil Nadu is well served on two language formula, i.e, English and Tamil and that making the "third language" compulsory is "completely unacceptable."
Following the row over implementing the three-language policy in Tamil Nadu, Congress leader P Chidambaram said that unless the two-language policy is successful, discussing the three-language policy is redundant.
